RFP: Development of Guidance for Non-Standard Roadside Hardware Installations

TRB’s National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) has issued a request for proposals to

(1) Identify situations where it is infeasible to use AASHTO Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH) devices for specific roadway criteria from state departments of transportation and other transportation agencies

(2) Assess whether non-MASH devices or MASH devices with less stringent roadway criteria can be used instead
(3) Identify strategies for situations where MASH system designs may not be practical, such as environmental constraints, right-of-way limitations, and utility conflicts
(4) Develop guidelines that transportation agencies can use to mitigate situations where MASH devices for specific roadway criteria cannot be used
Proposals are due March 18, 2021 at 5:00 PM Eastern.
