Shell Rotella will for the first time make Wyoming home to the its SuperRigs truck show, June 8-10 at the CAM-PLEX in Gillette. This will mark the event’s 41st competition. Training, safety investments prevent violations

For the past few years, Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) International Roadcheck campaigns have continued to find the most violations with brakes, lights and tires, and this year’s blitz on May 16-18 is approaching quickly. Shipper conditions to remain favorable through 2023: FTR
Conditions for shippers pulled back slightly to a reading of 5.4, but was still at its strongest level since May 2020, according to the Shippers Conditions Index from industry forecaster FTR. Funding available for Indigenous-led vehicle charging and awareness projects
Natural Resources Canada is looking to fund Indigenous-led projects to increase awareness about zero-emission vehicles and clean fuels, and install electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The funding is available under the Zero-Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative, and the Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program. Approved awareness programs could cover up to 75% of eligible project costs, up to a maximum $150,000 per year. Truck driver pleads guilty in animal activist’s death
A truck driver has pleaded guilty to careless driving causing the death of a 65-year-old animal rights activist. Andrew Blake appeared by video today before an Ontario court and pleaded guilty to the provincial offence. The federal government has introduced a new pilot project to connect skilled refugees to in-demand jobs including truck driving. Beginning this summer employers can tap into the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP), which pairs refugees and other qualified people to Canadian employers facing labor shortages in key occupations. Trucking HR Canada (THRC) has announced a project, funded by the Government of Alberta, it says will support Alberta employers with recruitment and retention efforts. THRC has partnered with the Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) to deliver project activities, according to a news release. The three-year project, HR Connects: Growing the HR Capacity of Alberta’s Trucking and Logistics Companies is designed to help employers build up their human resources management policies and practices.
